Older devices will not be able to use the the Free IM app as Facebook is cutting of its support. Whatsapp announced the change will be implemented by the end of the year.
Are you on the safe side? If you are using an android powered device and its 4.1 and above u are safe as the app will no longer be supported on 2.1 and 2.2 versions of android. For Ios users, iphone 3GS devices will be cut off. Its painful to hear that Windows 7 mobile will be cut off as the device isn’t as old as the ones i mentioned above. However the company had some mercy for Blackberry versions as it will be supported till the end of 2017
Faceboook owned whatsapp said it was making the move so that it could make sure the platform was more secure and that it could put a great emphasis on new features.
