Bloatware is a term you’ll hear a lot but not everyone understands exactly what it means or what they are. Alongside the term you will also come across Junkware. The 2 are almost simply to some extent but junkware are just software that don’t mean anything to your system. Junkware are mostly annoying addons in your browser that you will ever use and only slow down your computer.
When it comes to bloatware, I’ll divide the article in 2 main section, I will discuss both computer and laptop then ill broadly explain the mobile sector as they are the most used devices, let’s face it it’s 2020.
BLOATWARE IN LAPTOP AND PCs
Let me first define what bloatware is or are. Basically, these are software pre-installed in the OS by the manufacture, unlike system applications bloatware are not always required by the user or the OS. Mark the word always because what I consider as a bloatware might be useful to someone else. Take for example ‘skype’, this is a software that mostly come pre-installed in windows 10, to someone it is an important communication app while someone might see this as an unnecessary app and waste of internal space. Now you have an idea of what I’m talking about.
In Computers bloatware exist both in the OS as a general and in the browsers. Let’s talk of the OS bloatware. I have used both Linux and Windows and goodness windows is king of bloatware, being the most used OS in the world this is common, look at android in mobile which we will as you keep reading this. From the time you boot up your windows pc and complete the setup, you click on the start key and bunch of useless stuff show up on your screen, excluding the office, time and other useful programs of Couse. And yes, that new antivirus that comes with your pc is a bloatware, anti-viruses do this with perfection. McFee is free for the first year and then you realise it’s a bloatware once the free service ends and you are required to pay. Well antiviruses are good and I recommended all too install one, but there should be a customer choice. An antivirus becomes a bloatware when one is forced down your throat by the manufacture of your machine because they signed a million-dollar deal with the provider.
Let’s have a look at the browsers, bloatware here are in form of those addons you never use. Firefox and chrome are notorious with this. Not everyone really cares about addons in browsers this is because majority see them as just a means to surf the web, watch there favourite YouTube videos and download several contents.
So as not to rape your eyes with so much reading, read the next chapter titles UNDERSTANDING BLOATWARE (part2) where I will touch on the mobile sector and further explain more on this. As always leave a comment so that I hear all your opinion. NOTHING IS TRUE EVERYTHING IS PERMITTED
